A spot of finishing

The next slot up in my rotation was one I earmarked for small designs as I had a couple of them hanging around half stitched I started with them.

First up was an old free design from Barrick Samplers called Five Birds. I stitched this on 36 count Vintage Light Exampler from Lakeside Linen using Gentle Arts threads in Wood Rose and Green Apple.

I'm not sure how I'm going to 'finish' this one yet, I'm leaning towards a pillow finish but I shall probably ponder it for a bit yet.  No such problem with the next finish - Miniature Monogram Hornbook from Kelmscott Designs.  The shock is that I got straight on and 'finished' it!  Stitched on a scrap of 32 count linen from my stash with Gloriana silk in India Ink.

After finishing those two off, it meant I could have a new start.  I decided to go for Spot of Winter from The Drawn Thread.  I stitched the other seasonal spots back in 2009 but never got round to this one.  Stitched using the recommended threads on 36 count Periwinkle linen from Silkweaver.

I managed to carve out some time this weekend to do more than just finish the hornbook, I also grabbed this Victoria Sampler Beyond Cross Stitch that I stitched back in 2004 and finally got it finished as a pinkeep.

Love them all Karoline--that last heart is especially beautiful!
Nice finishes! You did a great job with the finishing itself too. I think I have that miniature monogram from Kelscott tucked away in my stash too.

Wow, you definitely were on a finishing spree - finishing started projects and finish-finishing them. That's a great feeling, isn't it. I'm always impressed by myself when I manage to do a lot of finishing, lol. I love the hornbook and the pinkeep, well done. And the Winter Spot is a great start.

Oh my goodness that Victoria Sampler Hardanger piece is so pretty.
It's a blast from the past too as I have several of these little kits never started. Maybe it's time to do one of them.
Love the dinky little hornbook too.

They are all gorgeous but I particularly like the hardanger one. That's lovely!
Oh Karoline! All your stitching projects are gorgeous! Love the softness of colors on Five birds. The mini hornbook is beautiful. I know that some of the smalls take so much time to complete their finishes. Not hard but time consuming and all your little's look perfectly finished. Your Victoria Sampler piece took my breath away - WOW. I LOVE IT!!! Congrats on your incredible finishes. love Annette
