As a follow on from my last post, I also got to indulge in some of my favourite forms of retail therapy on Thursday. Before we went to the Quilt Museum I had a quick browse in a couple of second hand bookshops and found these

The Quilt Museum has got a lovely shop and I bought a kit to make some 'Kaths Kubes' for the children with this lovely vintage style fabric.

In the evening I got to really indulge. As Dave was on holiday I was able to make it over to Baa Ram Ewe for their New Season Preview. The special guest this time was Susan Crawford and she talked us through the gorgeous designs in her new book 'A Stitch in Time 2' along with allowing us to try on her samples.

Of course I couldn't leave without shopping! Rosie had made a special request for me to knit her some green socks, so that yarn was top of the shopping list, I got some Alpaca Sock yarn in Moss from UK Alpaca. There was also some Merino Blend DK from King Cole to knit a top for Christopher and the indulgence of a skein of hand dyed Bluefaced Leicester Silk Lace for myself along with an Amy Butler skirt pattern.

what a fine time you had at the wool shop Karoline! How wonderful to be able to attend a meet and greet with a famous authoress and designer. The yarn stash is yummy and the fabric stash was perfect for the children's block pattern. Enjoy all your stuff - fall is surely coming soon and I always get knitting fever after a long hot summer. Enjoy your week! Melody

oooh, lots of lovely stash! It's amazing how fibers can lift us up, isn't it?

I read The Dud Avocado last year. I would love to know what you think of it!

I love the vintage fabrics and what pretty yarn colors. I haven't been knitting long, but would love to be able to knit some socks. I'm not sure why I feel so intimidated by them.

Oh, such lovely yarns. I love them. Especially the purpley bluey one. Lovely!!! Glad you enjoyed your weekend and your retail therapy. And, btw, Ethan Frome is one of my fave books. I haven't found a copy yet, but I would love to have one. Glad you got yours! Maybe it's a harbinger of things to come, lol.

We really have similar reading interests Karoline - I actually teach one of these novels, and have taught one of the other two in the past!

I love the fabrics and yarn that you bought - looking forward to seeing what you make with them. :) I'm glad you got to treat yourself!
