Starting as I hope to go on!

Happy new year everyone!  I'm starting my first post of the year with a flourish of finishes, which is nice.

First are my final finishes of 2014, the two ornaments by Paw Printings - Penguin Hugs from Just Cross Stitch Ornament Edition 2004 that I have stitched for the children.

I stitched these using the recommended DMC on some Silkweaver opalescent evenweave from my stash.

I have also finished the stitching on the Whitework stitching companion, a class I took with CA Wells back in 2005.  I'm hoping that I can also get the finishing work done this year but we'll see how I get on.

Stitched using the kit materials.

Having finished the CA Wells, it's time to move onto the next oldest class kit in the pile.  This is 'Take a lovely sampler' bag and smalls by Forget Me Not in Stitches.  I took this class in 2006 and have two of the four smalls stitched, the needle case and scissor rest (I started the finishing for the needle case in the class)

I have now started the scissor fob, there is also a pin cushion and the bag to do.

To end with here are a couple of photos from our Christmas break (if you follow me on other social media you will have already seen these).

We took a trip to a local park one afternoon, Temple Newsam to let the kids run off some steam and there was some wonderful winter light.

On New years day we went to visit my parents in Filey.  Of course there had to be a walk down to the beach and it doesn't matter that the weather was pretty bracing as far as Rosie and Christopher were concerned it was still perfect beach weather!

It was definitely worth unearthing the two class projects and stitching on them. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these projects. And such lovely ornaments for your kids.
Have a great New Year!

so excited to see your finishes Karoline - they are beautiful. Especially excited since our EGA guild is having Lauren Sauer teach for us this year. Glad you had a great visit to the beach, it sure looks cold ! brrrr - I stay far away from the ocean winds in the winter, however my DH used to surf year round back in the day. Take care Mel

Your new year has started out so well with so much pretty stitching, Karoline--the penguins are adorable. And I love the photo of the kids on the beach--they look like they're hunting for buried treasure :)
