Flowers of the Field

Short and sweet post tonight as I've spent most of the day trying (and failing) to find an error in a recalcitrant accounts spreadsheet for an organisation I'm the treasurer of and I 'need' to switch the laptop off and stitch.

I finished off the Mermaid Heart Whimzi last week, I haven't taken a photo yet as I want to do the finishing first.  I'm hoping I will get time for that this weekend.  Off course a finish means that I get a new start,  I spent several pleasant hours browsing through my copies of Sampler and Antique Needlework Quarterly deciding what to work on next as well as reminding myself of some of the great projects there are in my collection.  Eventually I decided on the 'Flowers of the Field' sampler by Eileen Bennett which starts in  the Fall 2003 issue and I'm loving it so far.

My first *big* sampler was by Eileen Bennett, it was in parts in Just Crossstitch back in the early nineties. I also took a class from her while I lived in Pittsburgh....a lovely lady. She lives fairly close to me now, in the Grand Rapids area.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

That sampler is beautiful. I stitched it when it was first issued as a gift for my younger brother and his wife. When I see the unobtrusive corner in which it is hung I sometimes wish I had kept it for myself:-)

It's such fun to browse through old issues of stitching magazines... I love finding a potential project I may have overlooked. Your new piece is lovely, Karoline :)
